Overview

Kitt is an innovative “learning companion” designed to support children in becoming more independent learners. It allows them to record, reflect, and present their work in creative and meaningful ways.

Purpose & Uses

• Fosters autonomous learning and differentiation: Each Kitt device can be personalized with teacher-uploaded files (audio, images, videos), offering support, instructions, and educational material tailored to individual students.

• Reduces teacher workload: Helps educators manage personalized content easily for different learners.

• Safe for use: Fully offline – all content is stored locally on a micro-SD card, with no internet connection required.

Accessibility Features

• Adjustable volume, brightness, and haptic feedback to suit each child’s preferences or needs.

• Central Braille-labeled button for enhanced accessibility.

Recording & Documentation Tools

• Audio recording: Children can record voice notes or reading practice. Kitt responds with animated eyes and lights to show it’s recording.

• Photo capture: Children can take pictures of their work or activities, aided by an on-screen countdown (3-2-1).

• Video recording: Ideal for projects, experiments, or presentations – with the same intuitive countdown display.

Social Interaction & Wellbeing Features

• Kitt “wakes up” and “goes to sleep,” signaling its state with voice and color-changing light effects.

• Reacts to touch, movement, and cuddles with light, eye animations, and vibration feedback – encouraging emotional connection.

• Can be loaded with mindfulness exercises, positive affirmations, or familiar voices for emotional comfort.

SEND Support (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities)

• Helps support students with SEND by reinforcing structure, routine, and self-regulation – including timers, step-by-step visuals, and recorded prompts.

• Encourages core skills such as organization, memory, communication, and emotional expression, even during outdoor or non-classroom activities.
